In general, here’s the pattern to keep in mind when placing furniture, whether it’s a desk, a bed, a chair or a couch.

It’s best to….
..have a wall at your back for protection. This gives you a secure feeling.
..have a view of the door.
..not be across from a door.

Chair Placement
Wall at your back
View of the door but not across from it
Tall lamp at your left
End table at your right

Desk Placement
Place chair in the command position
Arrange desk in front of chair so you can view the door and not be across from it

Most office furniture is designed to be placed up against a wall. This is not good Feng Shui. If you absolutely have to place your desk this way, hang a mirror so you can see behind you.
